The Day before Play!

I am excited, very excited because I am off to play at the Heide Museum of Modern Art tomorrow.
I am excited firstly- because tomorrow I will be a student again at what I hope a will be a wonderful PD. And second- because tomorrow I will be able to forget that I am a teacher at work and just enjoy the Art Gallery. I love art galleries, a perfect place to live! So much to see, so much to learn and so much to absorb! I am there for the Rick Amor PD for teachers..... ohhhh the excitement is killing me! To be let loose in an art gallery is a privilege... seeing as I would otherwise be at work.
A SINGLE MIND: RICK AMOR 22 MARCH - 13 JULY 2008 at the Heide Museum of Modern Art.Back to reality- again another day of "my family". OK I am over that theme! Teaching the same theme to 6 different year levels in a week is just doing my head in. At least I won't have to think about it tomorrow. Though I must admit I am looking forward to having my favourite year level on Friday. The year 1 class are just beautiful this year. I know I will be taking pics of their work on Friday. They make coming to work on Fridays a pleasure! Till then I can show you the wonderful lino cuts from the very talented Year 6's I have. A Hundertwasser theme, and many cut fingers later these are the results.... what do you think? I think they are pretty cool. Not bad for year 6....... I am impressed! But then I am biased. Hundertwasser inspired lino prints with lots of line, crazy houses and just imaginary far away places.....there is no place like home...
So tomorrow is supposed to be cold, yes colder than today. It is always cold at Heide, it is Melbourne after all. Four seasons in one day.... Maybe a jacket and yes I would wear red shoes... If only I had a jacket like my Ballet doll below! I am soooo excited, off to play at Heide!!! I will tell you all about the fabulous visit tomorrow, say tuned and stay RED!!!
I am also ecstatic because today I received my first response from a fellow blogger, how cool.... that is a step in the right direction!

Ruby Red Slippers?

Another long day at school, you know the usual, yard duty, staff meeting after school, the life of a teacher never ends with the parts that make teaching not nice. But with another day of "my family" themed artworks, here are the latest...
-These are Year 3 magic scratch paper portraits. The students just love the scratch paper.... it is very special, as magic scratch paper only comes out in special occasions... this is one of them! I got them to mount the family portraits on coloured card and then frame/ border the artwork as well as signing their own names. Some were amazing, you just never know what masterpieces they will create.

Here are some of my works in progress... This one is a gouache on paper... what do you think??
Not quite finished yet, is this one is another gouache on canvas, something different to try... I love colour and did you notice the girls' shoes??? Yes RED!!!! One can't go anywhere with out the ruby red slippers!!! Neither gouaches are finished, a total work in progress.... Hmmmm where are my red slippers???

Of-course my ruby red slippers are not as glamorous as the real ruby RED slippers. So again, the day ends with red..... Lets see shall we?? Wouldn't it be nice to visit the land of Oz? Munchkins, the Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow... One of my favourite books and movies of all time... Ahhhhhhhh Ruby Red Slippers. There is no place like home!

Monday Gnoming Day

It is always interesting to be back at work after the weekend. You know people to see, people to meet... My day begins with Spelling and then straight into Art with a rowdy bunch of Year 6's. Luckily for me we had to work on an artwork relating to "my family" so family portrait here we come... .......Let me know what you think.....
-Then the spin was, a family portrait painted using secondary colours. There always is a hidden agenda when it comes to my art classes. Any way I can get the students to remember basic art principals is a good thing... One is always prepared in the real world if you know your primary colours!!! Yea I know, that is the teacher in me.
-Here is one of my gouache gnome paintings. I do love gnomes, they are very interesting individuals... One should always befriend a gnome..
If only I could find a pair of shoes like that, but of-course mine would have to be red! I do have a passion for red items... Red is my colour of choice! Again the photo is very dark, makes the colours look darker than they really are. Or as cheeky Lyn would call it -hooker red. Yes bright red, any red is my ideal colour. Red always makes me feel better, life is better with something red!
Here is some divine :Ginkgo in Deep Red - Limited Edition Pure Hemp Canvas (50cm) by Lara Cameron. It is just beautiful, I love the colour, pattern and divine material.... It would look fabulous as a cushion, bag or even a groove dress. Yes a fabulous summer dress- awesome!!

-My gnoming group has attended 3 sessions at lunch time. So far, needle felting has had one casualty- lucky student who speared themselves with the needle twice... Once you hurt, you learn not to do it again... At the moment we have created a body, and head. Creating a felted ball was harder for them than I thought...This is what I would like the students to achieve, this is my felted gnome- Harry. If we all get there is another story, but i hold hope that some will create their own little people/ gnomes. You see a red hat always makes one feel better. I think Harry is very happy with his RED hat.

HAPPY RED DAY!!!

Getting My Act Together....

What a lazy day, it is Sunday after all. Washing, cleaning and finally creating a record of some of my artwork. My beautiful hubby took out his super dooper camera and documented my creations.

Henri was like usual unimpressed and decided a snooze on the bed as it was much more interesting. Isn't it so nice being a very pampered pooch? Henri certainly thinks so!

Then organizing all the images into relevant folders on the computer...So here is the result, just a few creations, let me know what you think? I would love to know what you think about my ideas and art work. It is always great to hear what other interesting individual think.

Here are my Ballet Dolls. These are my favourite to create, each one is different and no two are the same. Just like people they each have their own personality... The middle one has my hand in the image so at least you can see a height reference point. They are around about 30cm in height. Maybe a hand model is what I can become if Art stops being my thing! Probably not. But aren't they cute?

This is one of my tapestries. One thing I did learn at university was my love for the time consuming, warp and weft skill. I was lucky enough to indulge myself and really absorb this amazing skill. This is one thing I really do miss....

My Lino Print.... I do love printing such an immediate way of creating with line. Again spoilt for choice in my life as a student, as now I teach my 3 class of very enthusiastic Year 6 students how to do their own lino cuts. After repeating again and again that hands and fingers should never be in front of the lino blade/ tool they have created their own wonderful creations. My love of line and lino always get a great workout at school every year. This lino print photo doesn't do justice, even if I have so say so myself!

And this is my gouache painting that I happily paint away whenever I have a spare minute at work. The students also see me paint and like the fact that I am busily working on my own artwork. Lets hope it inspires them to keep creating later on in life and not just in their early years... This painting hangs on my bedroom wall. I happily wake up to this image every morning...

Lets see what tomorrow brings. My lunchtime "Gnoming group" brings in 20 students who are learning to dry needle felt...We are felting gnomes and little people. It is really interesting to see students learn a new technique and skill...

It All Begins....

So my very first entry, I am sooooo excited as I have no idea where to begin! My name is Hannah and I do promise that each post will get better and better. I have much to share and much to tell.

Where,

What,

Who and

Why?

This is one of my creations when I have a spare minute and like to indulge in all the things that make my life glorious to live. I make, create, play, design and totally love to get lost in the moment. At work and at play I always say what I want and who I am... Life is there to be lived.

I want to share my ideas, thoughts and love of all things arty, crafty, chocolate like, lip balmy and Henri (ish)... He is my baby Golden Retriever whom I adore to pieces. Well lets say he is a a 6 Yr old dog who thinks himself human in every way, very loving, very cute and many times very naughty. Henri is a constant in my life and keeps me real, loving and always giving.
I have always kept a diary up until a few years but I think it is about time to share my thoughts with all those creative and pondering like minded individuals.

Now I am off to have pancakes skillfully cooked my my brother, yummy.....Maybe plough my way through the "Good Food Guide" with Lyn, while we eat pancakes. I really need some good restaurant therapy... Moretons Brasserie in Carlton last weekend was wonderful.

If you want a quaint French restaurant that serves a delicious French feast check it out.... Co- owner Jenny is warm and welcoming as is the service. Anyone want to suggest a good resturant to try out?? Right, I'm off to try a crepe, maybe some berry jam and sour cream... I am already dreaming about it.
